A night in Vienna

Vienna, Austria was our first destination in Europe. We arrived earlier morning on a Sunday. It was a ghost town, we hardly saw any people. It was calm and peaceful, for a minute, we felt like we had to whisper to each other when we had to talk. (giggles).

Vienna, Austria

Vienna has a lot of offer. I never have imagine to visit this city. This city is filled with rich culture, long lasting tradition, stunning architecture, the way of living, amazing coffee houses, the capital city for classical music and many many more.

Cycling around Vienna
We trail along the city in our bi-cycle, it was just the best weather day for it. So the city is structured district and the touristy area/attraction are all in the 1st district. In the 1st district, there is a ring road surround the 1st district. Along that Ring road, they are famouse sight like Opera House, Hofburg Palace, City Hall and Parliament.

Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien - Art History Museum

Art History Museum
The famous Hofburg palace was the Habsburgers winter residence, as the Schonbrunn Palace was their summer residence.
Wein River
Naschmarkt is Vienna's most popular market and real hot spot. It is located at the Wienzeile in the 6th district of Vienna. The market extend up to 1.5 kilometres. You will find fresh fruits, vegetables, exotic herbs, cheese, olives, baked goods, meat and seafood.

Bermudadreieck, Vienna
The Bermuda Triangle is an area with pubs and bars in a historic corner of Vienna's city centre. It got its name because it is easy to get lost in one of the many bars, get drunk and then awake a few days later in some gutter with no memory of what had happens.

St. Rupert's Church, Vienna
It is the oldest church in Vienna

Prater Amusement Park, Vienna
The Prater is a large public park in Vienna's 2nd district. It is officially known as Wurstelprater amusement park. This place is colourful, bright and full of life. I loved some of the side streets that was awesomely lit. We went on a few ride and it was so cheap comparing to other amusement park, I have been. We spent so much time in here, that we even club in dinner in some authentic Viennese food. We left very late, I think after 11 pm, and even then most of the attractions were still operating. I think this is a really nice evening trip.

Etihad Airways Singapore to Vienna

A quick review on my journey with Etihad Airways. It was our first time flying with them. I wouldn't lie, I did have high expectation toward the airline as it was in the top best airline for 2015. We flew in a dream liner, which is their new aircraft.

At Changi Airport
At the check-in counter, there was no passenger, we didn't have to wait in the line. A very pleasant girl checked us in and did the usual "did you pack your bags routine" but she asked about how our day had been which felt a lot more personal and friendly. Check-in was done in a swift.

Dreamliner Aircraft
Once at the gate, it didn't take us long to get boarded, the crew greeted and smile and directed us to our seat. It was a 3-4-3 layout on the A340 which was spacious. It was new, clean and tidy. One of the great things is that you get to choose from 3 menu choices with Etihad rather than just two. They had a vegetarian choice so even if you didn't put in a special meal, you could get it board as well. The food was very tasty and served with a smile, which watching a film on their good entertainment system. There was a good selection of movies, tv programmes and music.

We got the emergency exit seat which had plenty of leg space and it was super comfortable. Before taking off, I saw that it was right next the toilet and I was expecting it to be horrible. But you know what, the direction of the toilet was not facing our way. It was the opposite direction, therefore it wasn't visible for us. And thank god there was no door sound.

First meal - Dinner
Landing at Abu Dhabi, the terminal was beautiful but the long line to clear the x-ray was hell. We had our stop over for 2 hours, the 2 hour flew by and we were on our next flight to Austria. This time it was a small flight managed by LTU. I was terrified thinking that it would be horrible and it would shake the ass out. I think I got lucky that flight, it was so smooth and I just watched my games of thrown on my ipad and time just passed by.

I stirred a could of times in the  night but nothing major and was alert once I could smell the food. It was a morning breakfast platter. It had scramble eggs and I remember being super delicious. I didn't think I would like it at that time of the morning but the food was lovely and I got quite a lot on my tray. They took a little time to be collected back up and before long we were coming in to land. It had gone so quickly and I felt I didn't have enough time to even experience it but I enjoyed it.

At Abu Dhabi & Vienna airport
Landing at Vienna, it was quick to get through the immigration and baggage collection. The signs at the airport was so informative. We were out in 20 mins after landing.

Overall I was very impress with them. Staff on board were lovely and I had no complaints about the seats. An upgrade would be nice for next time though.

Where have I been?

Nearly half the month of August, I was on holidays. The much awaited one of the year. We explored Vienna, Czech Republic, Croatia and France (Monaco as well if that counts as a country). It is really hard to put into words or explain how much fun it was. We were basically in the best places with the best companies. Planning to do a series of update on each countries I visited. Stay tune, it should be up in a couple of days. Lots of love
