Auckland New Zealand June 2016

I visited Auckland in June 2016. The main reason of my travel this time was for work. I didn't have much time to look around the city as much as I wanted to. The only time I had was in the evening and every thing gets shut by 5 pm. The weather was cool and windy. Walking about the city with this kind of weather was just too good. I enjoyed every steps of it.

I stayed at the Rydges Auckland which is right in the city centre. Very convenient location and it was just walking distance to the sky tower and the casino. I also had a chance to dine the Orbit 360 Dining Restaurant, at the revolving sky restaurant. The food was amazing and the view from there was just mind blowing. The restaurant just revolve and you don't even feel it. The food was so good. There was a lot of healthy choices available. It was also walking distance to the princes wharf.

I did get a chance to walk around the shopping street, but I didn't buy much. It was more like window shopping. I enjoyed the super market, where I went crazy shopping for organic treats.

Auckland has a vast variety of food. What ever cuisine you want to eat, it is never out of reach. You will get any kind of cuisine you want. The food there is amazing and fresh.

Even though I was there a lone, I still thoroughly enjoyed. I'm looking forward to coming back and exploring more of this city together with my better half.

Singapore Airline Business Class

I flew Singapore Airline Business class from Singapore to Auckland on 19th June, SQ 285 Boeing 777-300 ER. The flight duration was 9 Hours 40 Minutes. My seat number was 22A. It was the new re-design cabin, and it looked amazing. The seat themselves are leather, soft and super large. The seating configuration is in 1-2-1 to give all passenger aisle access. The seating arrangement gave great flexibility in positioning myself comfortably. It felt like the seat can fit 2 people. The TV screens are so big comparing it to the economy class. The personal seat light has a number of different setting and brightness depending on whether you are reading, eating or watching TV. The seat folds down to create a very large flat bed. I was really surprised. The flat bed seem to be above average height, so this would be loved by all. The food service was just a class apart. It felt like sitting in a five start restaurant and dining. I had selected low calories meal. So every served was just so healthy and yummy as well.

The only thing I didn't like was the seat was not near the window enough. I love to look down from the plane but in this case I had to really move myself to do that. Anyways with all this comfort, my fear of flying has reduced. I don't know if it was the distraction or what but even during 1 hour of turbulence, I kept my calm and was watching Games of Throne.

Seoul Korea Trip 2016

Yay! I spent 3 Nights 4 Days exploring Seoul for the first time. We flew from Singapore via Jakarta into Seoul, it took us nearly 10 hours flight including the stop over. Not so nice but the flight was comfortable. I went during last week of April, the weather was just beautiful. In the morning it was good but when it turns dark, the wind is a killer!

We stayed in Mercure Ambassador Seoul Gangnam Sodowe. The location of this hotel was good, right next to the train station and in central district are. We stayed in Junior Suites which was spacious.

We visited Namdaemum Market which is the largest and traditional market in Korea. It is always very crowded. If you want to buy local street thing, then this is the place to visit. This place is closed on Sunday.

Myeongdong is just a very happening place. Full of life. It is one of the primary shopping district in Seoul. it is the most popular shopping district in Seoul, much like Orchard Road in Singapore and Bukit Bintang to Kuala Lumpur. I enjoyed this street a lot. Many variety for food and shopping.
Myeongdong Cathedral, a lovely church with history.

Lotte Mart is giantic shopping complex that is open until midnight. This place is specially made for tourist, it is somewhat like the giant mega store we have in Tampines Singapore and sells everything from groceries to daily essentials, office supplies, apparels, etc.

We also made a stop at Dongdaemun Market, which is the major market for wholesale clothing, it's a big area filled with shopping malls all around. I was there during the evening until late night. Nothing seem to stop here. So you have a road that divides the shopping mall. One side the the retail side that is open until 11ish and the other side the wholesale side which opens all night long.

My husband colleague had actually booked this place for dinner for us. Chavit cuisine is right next to hand river and it placed in Gangnam. The buffet there was fantastic and the view was just beautiful.

We visited the Gyeongbokgung Palace, this is a massive area. It is the largest palace of the five grand palaces built by the Jaseon Dynasty. Gyeongbokgung literately means "Palace of Shining Happiness".
Gyeongbokgung Palace

We took a lovely stroll through Bukchon Hanok Village while taking in the delicate architecture of Korean houses. The light brown wooden doors complement the grey brick walls and the delicate green plants so well. It was just a beautiful walk.

Birthday Dinner at Equinox Singapore

Equinox is located at the 70th storey of Swissotel, this restaurant definitely gives a very good view. We got a table overlooking the Marina Bay sands which was just spectacular. For dinner, they serve food in a la cart menu. The unexpected, they have a variety of healthy menu which was just awesome. The food was great and not so expensive as it looks to be. We spent good quality time here.

Pre-Birthday Trip to Bintan Island

On 23rd April, we did a pre-birthday trip to Bintan Island. We stayed at Banyan Tree for 2 days 1 night. It was only a 50 mins ferry ride from Spore. The ferry terminal wasn't that bad and the ferry itself surprising modern. The traffic and ride over was very smooth and I didn't suffer from seasick. We cleared are immigration from both Singapore and Indonesia side then proceeded to the Banyan tree waiting lounge. The staff met us and after a while they collected out bags and escorted us to the car for the ride to the report. Feeling was like king and queen, as there will be someone standing by to  open the car door and provide us with water & fruits. The service was just awesome.

Upon arrival, we got welcome drinks and were attended by one of the staff. The staff was so polite and very nice towards us. Everyone was very hospitable and anticipating in our needs. They also speak fluent English and other languages like Japanese. The reception will remember our name, the staff will chat and greet us and those who doesn't speak good English will give biggest smile every time we had an eye contact with them. We were totally impressed by their wonderful services.

We arrived early (about 1pm, check in at 3pm) but since our room was ready, they allowed us to check in early! The buggy send us to our villa. We stayed in deluxe sea view villa which was just perfect for us. It had a mind blowing view with luscious trees. Feeling was like being located in the wildlife.

Room was spacious, very clean and the bathroom was great with gorgeous toiletries. Felt very private and although we could see other villas in the hillside but it was secluded. It is certainly a super luxury villa with private jet-pool.

We didn't go out of the resort at all. I feel in love with the resort, the beach, the always-smiling people, the laid back environment and the scenery. All in all a luxurious and relaxing, peaceful 2 days. Banyan Tree Bintan was everything we hoped for and more. It was a wonderful and worth trip. We'd definitely go back again.

Hair Cut April 2016

Got new hair cut a couple of month ago. This time it was the shortest that I have ever been. In the beginning, I felt a little weird but as time flew by, I was in love with it. I got my hair cut from cut & Curl Central World. I went with my sister in law and we had so much fun just giggling over stupid things.
