My First Cruise

I am still dazed from my my very first cruise experience with Norwegian Epic on her maiden in the Mediterranean Sea. It was a 7 day cruise starting from Barcelona - Naples - Rome - Florence/Pisa - Cannes - Marseilles - Barcelona. The cruise kicked off on the 14 August and back on the 21st August. As a cruising newbie, I have to admit I was somewhat sceptical before boarding the ship. I didn't know what to expect and what not to expect. But I know that this experience will be different from my usual experience of travel.

I think cruises make for a great vacation as everything is taken care of for you. All you need to do is show up. That's exactly what my cruise experience was like. It was filled with buffets, cheesy entertainment, lots of drinking and large amount of time at the pool. A cruise was pretty much everything I thought it would be. But who would have known that it could be so much fun. I wanted to stay longer.

When cruising, everything is included such as your accommodation, all food, entertainment, fitness and etc.  however there were some that was additional cost, such as on shore excursion, Spa services, on-board shopping, internet access and alcohol drinks.

Everything about it made it right but on contrary, there were plenty of things that could have been better.
  • Not enough pool area: There were 4,000 people on the cruise and there was only two tiny pools that were always crowded and loud. Definitely this needs improvement!
  • No free drinking water: This is ridiculous and specially when you are on a summer vacation where the temperature is at its peak. Thank god, knowing it from our family who has cruise before, we did load in water
  • Small showers: With my size, I was having trouble enjoying my bath. I wonder what would happen with people who are bigger than me.
  • The buffet closing: this thing really irritated me. As much as they marketed as free and easy cruising but the buffet closing time was just a killer. The only thing that we needed to rush for.

My recommendation if you are cruising for the first time:
  • Stock up your water
  • Make sure to get a balcony for your 'me' or 'us' time
  • Get your alcohol included in your package
  • Get your internet access included if you don't want to be out of touch with the world
  • Plan your excursion well
The biggest reason why I loved my first cruise so much was the ease and comfort of travelling part way around. It's pure hassle free, no visas, airport security, waking up early to catch a flight, no cues, no unpacking and repacking... The list is truly endless. More than that the company we were with made it our best.

Singapore Celebrates 51 Years of Independence

On 9th August, Singapore celebrated their 51st year of Independence. Like every year, there is a special national parade held. I did not attend last year, this was the first year I was able to attend. It is not easy to get tickets, as they are not sold. You have to register yourself and you will be randomly selected to seats. A friend of mine was nice to share a her tickets with me. The whole experience was just breath taking. I like how all the diversity came under one stadium and were united.

The whole event took 2 hours, we got a goody bag filled with amazing Singapore flag and eatables.  We got the red sector which was the main podium near the officials. The stadium itself was packed with people. The parade from the different sector took place and some of beautiful performance as well. The lights and sound was so well arrange and thought of. Everyone who attended the session was wore red or white colour clothing. It was just so touching. Even though I'm not a Singaporean but I bow to their patriotism.

Snacking Made Healthy with BoxGreen

BoxGreen is a one-stop shop for deliciously wholesome snacks. It is not just healthy but also control the portion for each munch. It took me a couple of months to decide whether I should order the subscription of BoxGreen or not. When I saw there was a promotion for the 1st box, I thought I'll just try once and just see if it is worth it or not. My first box cost SGD 15.92 which is equivalent to 413 Thai Baht. The normal monthly price is SGD 19.90 equivalent to 516 Thai Baht.

I flip when I received my first box. Despite my initial reservation about BoxGreen, I'm actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of the snacks they provide. Healthy eating has become so much easier and tastier.

At first glance, I was rather impressed by the packaging and the information that is provide. The snack is easy to carry around when you are out and about. Really good for people who are busy and are unable to find time. Brownie points for using recycle box.

You can manually choose the snack you want from the variety snack list or as well as let them choose for your based on your profile. Malacca Trip Malaysia 2016

Just couple of days I got back from Australia, I headed to Malacca on the 1st of July. Malacca (or Malaka in Malay) is two hour drive from Kuala Lumpur and from Singapore. So I took the bus from Singapore and pass through the immigration and straight to Malacca. This is a lively place with gorgeous architecture, amazing food and an infectious vibe.

We stayed at the Hatten Hotel Melaka. The location of this hotel was just the best. Very near to Jonker with just a short walk and also near to various shopping mall. Rooms were clean and decent. The view was just fabulous, you can see the city. I didn't really enjoy the breakfast that much. It is a big hotel, I think should have more than 100 rooms.

Sydney - Perth Australia June 2016

So after Auckland, I flew to Sydney. It was 3 hour 40 minutes flight and I was there from 22-26 June. The best part is, I had the weekend in Sydney, so it was sooo much fun. I did get time to catch up with my friends and cousin as well. So it was just beautiful. I am in love with Sydney, I can see myself settling in their. The people are so nice, the weather was just amazing and there is so much to do there.

I stayed in Novotel Sydney Central, which was bang opposite to my office. This was the delight, I didn't have to spare any time for travelling which was great. Apart from it being near my office, it was also city centre. It was near to darling harbour, opera house, train station, shopping street, cafes, etc.

Then from 26 to 29 June, I was in Perth. The flight from Sydney to Perth took 5 hour and 50 minutes. It was a long way. Thank god it was not shaky. In Perth, I stayed at Citadines St. Georges Terrace Perth.  Perth is not a happening city, it is famous for mining. So every thing shuts by 6 o'clock. They are hardly anyone at the street after this time.
